Job Description

Support Worker - Residential Care (Term Time Only)

Salary: £17,616.26 - £19,217.37 per annum (plus an additional £1,053 shift allowance)

Hours: 43.25 or 44.25 hours per week, Monday to Sunday

Term Time only

We are currently recruiting for dedicated and passionate Support Workers to join our Residential team on our beautiful Surrey based campus.

About us

St Piers residential forms part of Young Epilepsy the national children and young people’s epilepsy charity. Our children and young people have Epilepsy, Autism and learning difficulties, along with communication difficulties.

We provide a safe, homely environment for children and young people who are residential with us whilst attending St Piers School and College and ensure that our experienced staff are matched to each home according to their skill base, knowledge and experience.

Our education, health and residential teams work closely together, to make sure that each child and young person has continuous care and support them to fulfil their aspirations and potential.

We take a person-centred approach and provide an environment where each child and young person has the emotional and physical space to learn, grow, develop and achieve both academically and socially.

About the role

You will be responsible for:

  • Working as part of a team to help to create a caring and safe environment in which growth and independence is fostered

  • Undertaking the role of Keyworker for a specified number of young people, with special responsibility to ensure a consistency of the support provided

  • Assisting with all aspects of personal care and daily living skills in accordance with individual support needs

  • Attending meetings in conjunction with the line manager with educational, care, therapy and medical staff concerning students

  • Leading and participating in various recreational, educational and social activities

    You will:

  • Be passionate about working with and supporting children and young people.

  • Be an effective communicator - both verbally and in writing

  • Be able to work flexibly as well as be able to adapt to changing priorities and challenging situations effectively.

  • Have proven experience of working as an active team player as well as on your own initiative.

  • Have good interpersonal skills
