Job Description

Assistant Support Worker

County Durham, Consett

Full Time (37.50 hpw)

Permanent

Salary is £18,576 per annum, plus our brilliant benefits!

Building foundations for new futures. That's when it hits home.

Do you have a caring nature, great listening skills and a genuine passion for helping others? Then join us as a Support Worker and work with our amazing team which helps our clients build strong foundations for their futures which are independent and aspirational. Not only will you be supporting the team in making positive lasting changes to vulnerable peoples’ lives, you’ll also be building the foundations for your own future too, as there are lots of learning opportunities and progression routes available to support you to be your very best!

As an Assistant Support Worker (known internally by us as a Support Worker – Level 1) you will work closely with experienced colleagues and be involved in basic/routine support planning, assessments, goal setting and reviews for clients living within the service. The service supports 13 homeless young people (aged 16-25 years). You will be responsible for ensuring customer involvement is delivered by enabling customers to cook and clean whilst providing them with the basic skills to move on to independent living and gain control of their lives. You will also be responsible for organising activities, outings and planning events to raise money for our welfare fund, supporting the team with void turnaround.

Working with our inspirational team and in partnership with external agencies, you’ll help us ensure our clients individual support plans are achieved so that they can successfully move on with a positive future!

About you

Previous experience is not required as we provide a thorough induction and training programme, but it is important to us that you have a good understanding of the role and of the issues that affect vulnerable people and our client group. We want someone like you, who has a positive can-do attitude and is enthusiastic and motivated to learn! To flourish in the role, you’ll have great time management, communication and IT skills and will work effectively with others.

You’ll be great at building effective working relationships and partnerships which you will need to effectively support our clients, and you’ll have strong organisational skills too.

Join us and build the foundations for your own future. At Home Group we are great at nurturing our talent…see for yourself how much further in your career you will go!

As we provide 24-hour support to our clients every day, you will work on a 4-week rolling rota covering a combination of early, mid and late shifts (no nights). You will cover 2 weekends out of 4 and take your turn working evenings, weekends and bank holidays). As we’re asking you to be flexible for us, we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you!

As this is a community based role, you’ll need to travel around to spend time with your customers. You could do this role using public transport, or if you drive and have access to a car that would also be amazing! (we pay your expenses to cover this use!)

If you are successful, we need you to have an Enhanced Disclosure Check through the Disclosure and Barring Service which we’ll pay for.
