Based in Herne Bay, Kent

Permanent, Part time (28 hpw)

Salary of £18,576 to £18,730 pa pro rata rising to £19,200 through length of service

Plus, brilliant benefit!

Empowering customers to live rewarding and happy lives. That’s when it hits home.

We have a fabulous opportunity for you to join our small but awesome team. We support our brilliant customers who have a learning disability diagnosis and who live independently in a 3-bedroom property based in the centre of Herne Bay.

We help change our customers’ lives for the better. You’ll play your part by assisting in the delivery of tasks that are based on our customers’ personal support plans, and their needs and aspirations. You’ll work with our team and external agencies to assess and engage support for our customers. We empower our customers to develop the independent living skills they need to successfully live semi-independently. Together we’ll make a difference!

We are committed to empowering customers and ensuring that they have respect, dignity, independence, choice and control over their own lives.

Customer quote

“I feel happy, safe and secure at this service, knowing I will be listened to and supported at every stage.”

About our team

You’ll be working alongside our fabulous team who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements. To us we are not just a team we’re a ‘work family’. Our manager is Mary who has nearly 20 years of experience in supported housing. We don’t just love to support our customers, we’re there for each other too! Shannon will be your fellow Support Worker who has so much knowledge and experience about Learning Disabilities and has been with us for over 8 years.

Working hours

The hours are 28 hours a week worked over five days Monday, Thursday & Friday (6 hrs a day) and Saturday and Sunday (5 hours a day). Apart from the weekends we can be flexible on which 3 days are worked in the week. Ideally, we would like someone who could be available to work additional hours on occasion in order to cover for the other support worker at the project during leave or sickness.

We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you!

About you

You’re passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. You’ll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing people from all different backgrounds. Ideally you will have some experience in safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality, support plans, and working collaboratively.

If you’re not the biggest fan of technology, that’s not a problem to us. You do need to know that we are quite a high-tech company and most of our application process and mandatory learning are online. However, we’re glad to support you, if you need help.

Ideally it would be amazing if you have worked in this type of environment before and with this client group, however it’s your “can do” positive attitude and enthusiasm that are critical to make this role a success. We can nurture your talent, just let us know in your cover letter why you have a passion for working here and with clients that have learning disability challenges!

To flourish in the role, you’ll be great at building effective working relationships and partnerships and you’ll have strong organisational and communication skills.

When you join, you’ll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you don’t have a transferrable one.
