Location: Birchington
Hourly Rate: £14.68 per hour
Shifts: Day and Night shifts available

Contract: Temp to Perm

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Support Worker to provide dedicated care and support to our client who lives independently in Birchington. The client has Autism and requires assistance with challenging behaviour management, medication administration, and ensuring their health needs are well managed.

Your role will be to help the client live a fulfilled life, supporting their interests and promoting independence while maintaining safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support with identifying potential triggers and interpreting early warning signs of behavior escalation.
  • De-escalate and defuse challenging episodes in a calm, safe, and professional manner to minimize impact.
  • Provide respectful prompts and encouragement around daily living tasks, including meal preparation and eating, ensuring balance without over-prompting.
  • Prepare and cook meals to meet personal preferences and dietary requirements.
  • Engage with the person's personal interests and hobbies, which include:
    • Reptiles and snakes
    • Tropical plants and cacti
    • Long walks
    • Fishing
    • Gardening
    • Learning and discussions about Chernobyl
  • Promote independence while offering consistent, compassionate support tailored to the individual's needs.

  • Support individuals with learning disabilities and autism
  • Work flexibly as a part of a team, adapting to the needs of the service users
  • Plan and facilitate activities such as walks and gardening.
  • Assist with daily living skills, including personal care, cooking, shopping, activities, while promoting independence.

Requirements
  • A valid driving licence.
  • Minimum six months care experience in UK
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in to communicate effectively with families and colleagues.
  • Ability to commit to minimum 2x12h shifts per week
  • Confident in meal preparation and cooking.
  • Willing to actively participate in, and encourage, the person's interests and chosen activities.
