We are seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join the Children In Need Team at the London Borough of Islington. This ongoing locum role offers flexibility, competitive pay, and the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of children and families. Core hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, but flexible arrangements such as 8am-6pm for four days, 8am-4pm, 9am-6pm, or part-time work are also available.

What You Will Do

  • Conduct Looked After Children reviews to ensure the best outcomes for children.

  • Follow Child Protection procedures rigorously to maintain safety and stability.

  • Manage cases in care proceedings with professionalism and empathy.

  • Undertake thorough risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential concerns.

  • Collaborate to create multi-agency plans for children returning to their families.

  • Devise and implement child protection plans tailored to each child's needs.

  • Engage in direct work, including life story sessions, to support emotional development and permanency.

  • Attend family group conferences and maintain accurate case records.

  • Prepare panel reports, conduct kinship assessments, and provide court evidence.

  • Manage caseloads efficiently, adhere to statutory timescales, and prepare pathway plans to support future outcomes.
