Job Description:

Senior Therapeutic Care Practitioner (Children’s Residential)
Location: Stockport
Pay: £14.01 per hour
Annual equivalent income: £31,765 per year based on a 2 days on 4 days off recurring shift pattern.

Potential performance bonus: up to £3,600 per year
Total annual income potential: up to £35,365 per year

Sleep in shifts: £50 per sleep in shift

Job Description:

Are you an experienced professional in children’s EBD residential care ready to step up into a senior role? Choices is looking for a Senior Therapeutic Care Practitioner to help lead one of our therapeutic children’s homes in Stockport. You will guide shifts, mentor colleagues, and help create a safe, nurturing environment where young people can genuinely thrive.

About the role
As a Senior Therapeutic Care Practitioner you will play a key role in daily practice and quality. You will:

  • Lead shifts and supervise a small team of Residential Support Workers
  • Set a high standard of care and support consistent routines for young people with complex needs
  • Support safeguarding practice, behaviour support, and incident oversight
  • Manage and update key documentation including risk assessments and care plans
  • Attend and contribute to LAC and PEP reviews
  • Support the Home Manager with audits, compliance tasks, and quality checks
  • Coach and mentor staff, helping them develop confidence and consistency

Who we are looking for
You will be a calm, confident role model who can lead by example and keep children at the centre of every decision. We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • At least 12 months experience in a residential childcare setting with EBD
  • Level 4 Children, Young People and Families Practitioner
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and the ability to support colleagues in best practice
  • Confidence leading shifts, motivating a team, and handling challenges professionally
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Right to work in the UK with no restrictions on hours
