Responsible Individual - Residential Child Care (EBD)
Location: Birmingham (B27)
Salary: £70,000 per year
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9-5
A growing children's residential provider with 30 years' experience in social work is seeking a Responsible Individual to oversee 3 children's homes in the Birmingham (B27) area. The organisation is committed to delivering therapeutic, child-focused care that prioritises stability, relationships, and long-term outcomes rather than volume-driven provision.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Responsible Individual or a senior Registered Manager ready to step up into a strategic leadership role, leading with accountability, warmth, and high standards.
The Role
As Responsible Individual, you will hold oversight of multiple homes, ensuring safe, nurturing, and well-led environments where children and young people can thrive.
You will:
* Provide strategic oversight and supervision of children's homes to ensure high-quality care and full regulatory compliance
* Act as Responsible Individual, ensuring services meet statutory requirements and the Children's Homes Quality Standards
* Support and develop Registered Managers to strengthen leadership, accountability, and continuous improvement
* Ensure safe staffing levels, appropriate resources, and staff training to safeguard children and young people
* Provide management supervision to monitor performance, quality, and operational risk
* Use the Statement of Purpose as a benchmark to drive outcomes and service improvement
* Act as the main liaison with Ofsted, local authorities, and commissioners
* Build strong external partnerships and contribute to the organisation's strategic growth and reputation

Essential Criteria
* NVQ Level 3 in Children & Young People (or equivalent)
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care (or willingness to complete)
* Eligibility to register with Ofsted
* Minimum 2 years' experience in residential childcare within the last 5 years
* At least 3 years' leadership or supervisory experience in a care setting
* Strong safeguarding and safer recruitment knowledge
* Experience with Ofsted inspections and compliance
* Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills
* IT proficiency (Microsoft Office)
* GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths
* Full UK driving licence
