Registered Manager - Specialist Solo Children's Home
Location: Nottingham
Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 per annum (DOE)
Hours: Full-time
I am recruiting on behalf of a specialist children's residential provider for a highly experienced Registered Manager to lead a new solo children's home in Nottingham.
The home will support one young person at a time, with staffing of up to 3:1 depending on their assessed needs and risks. The service is designed to provide highly specialist, consistent and individualised care for a young person who may present with complex emotional and behavioural needs and significant safeguarding risks.
This is a genuinely specialist service where strong leadership, sound safeguarding practice and the ability to manage risk effectively are essential.
This opportunity would suit an experienced Registered Manager who has successfully led an Ofsted-registered children's home and is confident managing complex placements, high levels of supervision and multi-agency working.
The Role
As Registered Manager, you will have full operational responsibility for the home, ensuring it delivers safe, consistent and high-quality care tailored to the individual young person.
You will:
- Lead and manage all aspects of the children's home in line with Ofsted requirements and the Children's Homes Regulations
- Provide strong leadership for a highly specialist solo placement
- Manage staffing levels of up to 3:1 in line with the young person's assessed needs and risks
- Support young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs and significant safeguarding risks
- Ensure care planning, risk assessments and safeguarding arrangements are robust and regularly reviewed
- Understand and manage court-approved restrictions lawfully, proportionately and in the least restrictive way
- Promote placement stability and positive outcomes for the young person
- Recruit, lead, develop and motivate a consistent staff team
- Maintain high standards across the home in line with the Children's Homes Quality Standards
- Work closely with social workers, commissioners, clinicians and other external professionals

Essential Criteria
- Substantial experience managing an Ofsted-registered children's home
- Proven experience working with young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and managing significant risks
- Experience managing complex placements and maintaining placement stability
- Strong knowledge of the Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
- Detailed understanding of Ofsted requirements and inspection processes
- Experience developing and managing care plans and risk assessments
- Understanding of lawful, proportionate and least restrictive approaches to court-approved restrictions
- Proven ability to lead and develop a consistent staff team
- Confident working with social workers, commissioners, clinicians and other professionals
- Level 5 leadership and management qualification, or currently working towards this
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent leadership, decision-making and organisational skills
- Ideally, previous experience registering and mobilising a new children's home
- A strong track record within Ofsted, ideally with experience of achieving a Good or Outstanding rating
