Role Overview
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Recovery Worker to join the substance misuse service in Lewisham, specialising in GP Shared Care. This ongoing full‑time locum role offers an attractive hourly rate of £20 and involves working across GP surgeries as well as the Forest Hill office.
You will support adults affected by drug and alcohol misuse, delivering evidence‑based interventions, supporting detox pathways, and promoting harm‑reduction strategies. This role is perfect for a committed and proactive professional with experience supporting Opiate Substitute Treatment (OST) clients and a passion for driving positive outcomes in the community.

Key Responsibilities / What You Will Do
- Manage a caseload of adult service users, delivering structured, evidence‑based interventions.
- Work collaboratively with GPs, carers, social care professionals, and significant others.
- Support OST (Opiate Substitute Treatment) clients throughout their recovery journey.
- Maintain accurate and timely case records using systems such as SystmOne.
- Provide harm‑reduction advice and support tailored to individual needs.
- Work towards community and inpatient detox pathways, supporting rehabilitation processes.
- Set recovery goals and support service users to achieve safe, sustainable progress.
Requirements / Candidate Criteria
Essential
- Previous experience working in substance misuse services (drugs and alcohol).
- Strong experience supporting OST clients.
- Solid understanding of harm‑reduction approaches and recovery models.
- Excellent caseload management and communication skills.
- DBS registered on the Update Service.
Desirable
- Experience working in GP Shared Care environments.
- Familiarity with electronic systems such as SystmOne.
- Knowledge of local Lewisham treatment pathways and community resources.
