Role Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Recovery Worker to join the substance misuse service in Lewisham, specialising in GPSC settings. This full‑time, ongoing locum role offers an immediate start and involves working across GP surgeries and the Forest Hill office to support adults affected by substance misuse — with a particular emphasis on Opiate Substitute Treatment (OST) clients.

You will hold a diverse caseload, delivering evidence‑based interventions and collaborating with healthcare professionals to support detoxification, rehabilitation, and long‑term recovery. This role is ideal for a motivated practitioner passionate about creating positive change within the local community.

Key Responsibilities / What You Will Do

  • Provide structured, personalised interventions aligned with individual recovery plans.
  • Work collaboratively with GPs and other health and social care professionals.
  • Manage a caseload of adult service users, supporting detox and rehabilitation.
  • Engage with family members and significant others to promote holistic recovery.
  • Maintain accurate case records using systems such as SystmOne.
  • Deliver harm‑reduction advice and support tailored to substance misuse needs.

Requirements / Candidate Criteria

Essential

  • Proven experience in substance misuse services (drugs and alcohol).
  • Experience working with Opiate Substitute Treatment clients.
  • Strong caseload management and keyworking abilities.
  • Understanding of harm‑reduction approaches and recovery models.
  • DBS on the Update Service.

Desirable

  • Experience delivering interventions within GP or community‑based settings.
  • Familiarity with SystmOne and clinical recording systems.
  • Knowledge of local Lewisham support pathways.
