An excellent opportunity has arisen for a qualified Probation Officer to join the Child and Youth Justice Service based at County Hall in Preston. This six-month full-time assignment offers a competitive hourly rate of £21.14 and provides the chance to work across Central and East Lancashire, supporting children and young people within both custody and community settings. Role Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support children and young people in custody and in the community, particularly those assessed as high-risk.

  • Undertake risk and needs assessments using Youth Justice Service frameworks, including AssetPlus.

  • Develop, implement, and review tailored intervention plans to support rehabilitation and positive behavioural change.

  • Prepare high-quality reports for Youth and Crown Courts, ensuring accuracy and adherence to statutory requirements.

  • Work closely with partner agencies to promote coordinated support for children and their families.

  • Champion diversity, inclusion, trauma-informed practice, and restorative approaches within all aspects of the role.
