What you will do:
- Lead and coordinate the planning, commissioning, and oversight of Alternative Provision to ensure it meets demand and delivers value for money.
- Undertake a thorough review of current strategies to improve outcomes for children and young people while aligning with the SEND and AP Sufficiency Strategy.
- Collaborate with local Headteachers, SENDCOs, and the Local Authority’s Education Team to address barriers to mainstream retention and identify areas for improvement.
- Provide strategic leadership in auditing referral pathways, striving for successful reintegration of students into mainstream education whenever suitable.
- Overlook the financial administration regarding High Needs Block spend, reinforcing robust governance practices.
- Champion best practices in early intervention, aiming to prevent exclusions and promoting a culture of inclusion within schools.

Candidate requirements:
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working as a commissioner within the fields of Alternative Provision and SEND. You should possess a wealth of knowledge in liaising with senior leadership, combined with a strategic mindset geared towards innovation and improvement. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK and be available to start from March 2026.
