What you will do:

- Hold overall operational responsibility for four teams within the Children in Care Service, collaborating closely with social work colleagues to enhance service quality.
- Lead, manage, and motivate staff through high-quality professional supervision and development plans, fostering personal and professional growth and supporting staff retention.
- Oversee team performance using available data, contributing helpful insights in management meetings to maintain compliance with standards.
- Champion the implementation of the Signs of Safety model in all professional interactions and ensure its principles are embedded throughout the team.
- Manage team budgets judiciously to remain within financial limits while supporting service needs.
- Support recruitment to maintain optimal staffing levels within Children’s Services, promoting a safer and more efficient hiring process.
- Uphold the directorate’s commitment to equal opportunities and actively challenge discrimination and prejudice.
- Conduct audits and quality assurance measures to ensure evidence-based practice is at the forefront of our services.
- Stay informed on council policies, legislation, and national trends to maintain high professional standards.
- Represent the service in meetings and special projects, stepping into leadership roles when needed to support the Head of Service.
