Deputy Nursery Manager

£31,200 per year | 40 Hours per Week

Strong Early Years practice starts with knowing the children, building meaningful relationships and creating experiences that genuinely engage them.

This nursery takes a child-centred approach, giving children the space and encouragement to flourish through strong relationships with their educators. Learning is inspired through purposeful, play-based experiences, allowing children to follow their interests, build confidence and develop at their own pace.

As Deputy Nursery Manager, you’ll work closely with the Nursery Manager while remaining an active presence across the setting – supporting practitioners, strengthening practice and helping ensure every child receives a consistently positive Early Years experience.

What We’re Looking For

  • A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification or above
  • Previous senior experience within an Early Years setting
  • Experience as a Deputy Manager, Room Leader, Third in Charge or similar would be beneficial
  • Strong understanding of the EYFS, safeguarding and child development
  • A genuine belief in child-centred and play-based learning
  • Confidence leading, supporting and developing practitioners
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues
  • A warm, hands-on approach to leadership

What You’ll Receive

  • Annual leave increasing with length of service
  • Discounted childcare
  • Enhanced parental leave
  • Sick pay
  • Wellness programme and dedicated wellness day
  • Training and development opportunities

Your Role

  • Support the Nursery Manager with the day-to-day running of the setting
  • Lead, motivate and support the Early Years team
  • Help embed a consistent child-centred approach across the nursery
  • Encourage practitioners to create meaningful experiences inspired by children's interests
  • Support high-quality play-based learning in line with the EYFS
  • Coach and develop practitioners, helping them strengthen their practice
  • Oversee staff deployment, ratios and daily routines
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, compliance, health and safety
  • Build strong relationships with children and their families
  • Step up in the Nursery Manager's absence and provide confident leadership

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements, including an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references, and verification of the right to work in the UK, in line with safeguarding responsibilities.
