Deputy Nursery Manager

Up to £37,000 per year | 40 Hours per Week | Good Ofsted

Our clients, a Good Ofsted-rated nursery provides a warm and nurturing environment where children can feel secure, develop their independence and become confident learners. The rooms are welcoming and filled with opportunities for children to investigate, create and learn through meaningful play.

Outside, the nursery benefits from a well-equipped garden with designated areas for different age groups, allowing experiences to be tailored to children's individual stages of development. From sensory activities to active and exploratory play, the outdoor environment provides plenty of opportunities to spark curiosity and creativity.

As Deputy Nursery Manager, you'll work closely with the Nursery Manager while remaining visible and hands-on across the setting, supporting the team and helping maintain consistently high standards of care and education.

What We're Looking For

  • Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification or above.
  • A minimum of Third in Charge experience within a nursery is essential.
  • Applications from experienced Deputy Nursery Managers are also welcomed.
  • Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework and child development.
  • Excellent understanding of safeguarding and child protection requirements.
  • Experience leading, mentoring and developing Early Years practitioners.
  • Confidence monitoring standards of care, education and practice across a nursery.
  • Ability to identify areas for improvement and support positive change.

Your Role

  • Support the Nursery Manager with the successful day-to-day operation of the setting.
  • Provide visible leadership and guidance to practitioners across the nursery.
  • Coach, mentor and motivate colleagues to deliver consistently high-quality practice.
  • Support the effective implementation of the EYFS across all age groups.
  • Monitor children's experiences, learning environments and standards of care.
  • Encourage practitioners to make effective use of the nursery's age-specific outdoor areas for sensory, creative and exploratory learning.
  • Build positive relationships with children and strong partnerships with families.
  • Support staffing, routines and the smooth organisation of the nursery day.
  • Maintain excellent safeguarding, health and safety and regulatory standards.
  • Contribute to quality improvement and help ensure high standards are maintained in preparation for Ofsted.
  • Deputise for the Nursery Manager, confidently taking responsibility for the setting when required.
