Job Description

Deputy Nursery Manager

Up to £36,000 per year | 40 Hours per Week

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced early years leader who wants to take the next step in their career while remaining actively involved in the everyday life of the nursery.

This warm boutique nursery has created a genuine home-from-home environment, where children are encouraged to feel confident, curious and independent. Outdoor learning is a big part of the nursery's approach, with its own garden, dedicated learning space and daily Forest School sessions giving children plenty of opportunities to explore nature and learn through hands-on experiences.

As Deputy Nursery Manager, you'll work closely with the Nursery Manager to lead the team, maintain high standards and ensure the EYFS curriculum is delivered effectively across the setting. This is a hands-on leadership position, so you'll be visible throughout the nursery, supporting practitioners and helping create consistently positive experiences for children and families.

What We're Looking For

  • Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification or above.
  • A minimum of Third in Charge experience within a nursery is essential.
  • Applications are also welcomed from experienced Deputy Nursery Managers.
  • Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework, child development and early years best practice.
  • Excellent understanding of safeguarding and child protection requirements.
  • Previous experience leading, mentoring and developing nursery practitioners.
  • Enthusiasm for Forest School, outdoor learning and child-led experiences.
  • A positive, visible and hands-on approach to leadership.

What You'll Receive

  • Up to £36,000 per year
  • 40 hours per week
  • Pension scheme
  • Ongoing training and professional development
  • Opportunity to develop your nursery management career
  • Experience within a nursery with a strong Forest School and outdoor learning approach
  • Supportive boutique, home-from-home environment

Your Role

  • Support the Nursery Manager with the effective day-to-day running of the nursery.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and support to practitioners across the setting.
  • Coach and develop team members, encouraging consistently high standards of practice.
  • Monitor the quality of care, learning and children's experiences throughout the nursery.
  • Support the effective delivery of the EYFS curriculum.
  • Encourage practitioners to make full use of the garden, outdoor learning environment and daily Forest School opportunities.
  • Build strong relationships with children and maintain positive partnerships with families.
  • Support staffing, routines and the smooth organisation of the nursery day.
  • Maintain excellent safeguarding, health and safety and regulatory standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve practice and support the implementation of positive changes.
  • Deputise for the Nursery Manager, confidently taking responsibility for the setting when required.

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements, including an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and verification of the right to work in the UK, in line with safeguarding responsibilities.
