Autism Day Service Senior Support Worker
Job Description:
A wonderful opportunity for a caring, fun, active and reliable candidate who is looking for a fulfilling role where they can really make a difference to young adults with autism lives.
The role is for senior learning support working for a brand new NHS backed and approved service West Sussex Autism Community Interest Company. Initially supporting just one young adult male but we will hope to build this slowly to support more adults - so opportunity for growth within the company if desired.
Current setting is a private residential setting with great facilities including a swimming pool and extensive grounds available for fun activities and programs like gardening and wood walks. We already have a awesome team you would be joining who are very lovely and supportive.
Full time role
Candidates will need to be active and keen to participate and organise fun, appropriate activities and outings to help fill the day and helping the client participate in community trips, attend specialist provisions and developing self help skills. The client has a personalised support package designed to enhance his quality of life and promote independence. This includes developing daily living and self-care skills, preparing his own meals, gardening, engaging in sensory-based activities, and participating in a range of other meaningful and enriching experiences.
As a result of the client’s autism, there may be occasions when he displays behaviours of concern or behaviours that challenge. He has a comprehensive Positive Behaviour Support Plan in place, and is supported by an experienced and knowledgeable team who understand his individual needs and communication style.
We are therefore seeking someone who can remain calm and confident under pressure, follow support strategies consistently, and work collaboratively with the wider team to provide safe, effective, and person-centred support.
