Locum Adults Social Worker - Learning Disability & Autism Team

Specialism: Learning Disability & Autism
Location: Keynsham, Bath and North East Somerset, UK
Contract Type: Locum - Ongoing
Working Pattern: Full-time or Part-time (Hybrid working)

About the Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and skilled Adults Social Worker to join Bath and North East Somerset Council's Learning Disability & Autism Team, based in Keynsham. The team provides high-quality, person-centred support to adults across the Bath and North East Somerset area.

This locum position offers flexibility, with both full-time and part-time hours available, allowing you to maintain a healthy work-life balance. While elements of the role can be carried out remotely, you will be required to undertake community visits, so access to a car is essential.

You will deliver a blend of casework, reviews, and safeguarding activity, ensuring that adults with learning disabilities and autism receive effective, strengths-based social work interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake assessments, reviews and case management in line with the Care Act 2014 and other relevant legislation.

  • Manage safeguarding enquiries and ensure that the wellbeing and safety of adults are promoted at all times.

  • Work collaboratively with service users, carers, families, and partner agencies to provide integrated and person-centred support.

  • Maintain clear and accurate records, reports and documentation to inform decision-making and ensure compliance with professional standards.

  • Contribute to team meetings, case discussions and service development activities.

About You

You will be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England, with experience supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or autism. You will bring strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, along with a commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred practice.

Essential Criteria:

  • Degree or Diploma in Social Work (or equivalent qualification).

  • Registration with Social Work England.

  • Demonstrable experience within Adult Social Care, ideally in Learning Disability and Autism services.

  • Knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and adult safeguarding procedures.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

  • Access to a car for travel within the local area.
