Description
Priory Hospital North London is looking to recruit an Accredited Addictions Therapist to join the team. This is a part-time 22.5 -hour role.

Located in London, in a peaceful and secluded part of Southgate, Priory Hospital North London is set within a striking Grade I listed building, overlooking beautiful parklands.

It's one of the UK's leading centres for the treatment of a range of mental health difficulties, including addictions, depression, anxiety, stress and obsessive compulsive disorder.

Since North London first opened its doors in 1986, we have worked tirelessly to establish our excellent reputation as a specialist provider of mental health care.

What you'll be doing
You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.
  • Deliver individual and group therapy to people experiencing substance or behavioural addictions, using evidence-based approaches such as CBT and motivational interviewing.
  • Carry out comprehensive assessments and create tailored treatment and relapse-prevention plans to support long-term recovery.
  • Maintain accreditation and follow professional standards, ensuring therapy is delivered ethically, safely, and in line with recognised clinical guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., doctors, social workers, and recovery services) to provide coordinated support.
  • Keep accurate and confidential client records while monitoring progress and adjusting treatment plans as needed.
You can find additional information in the attached job description.

What you'll bring to the role
Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. No two days are the same! Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows.

The successful candidate must be an accredited addictions therapist with a recognised professional body (such as BACP, UKCP, or equivalent) and proven experience supporting individuals affected by drug, alcohol, or behavioural addictions. A relevant qualification in counselling, psychotherapy, psychology, or addiction studies is essential. The therapist should be skilled in conducting comprehensive assessments, developing personalised treatment plans, and delivering evidence-based interventions such as CBT, motivational interviewing, or relapse prevention strategies.

Experience working within addiction recovery services, mental health settings, or community support programmes is highly desirable. The candidate must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, empathy, and the ability to build trusting therapeutic relationships with clients from diverse backgrounds. They should also be confident working independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams, maintaining accurate confidential records, and adhering to professional, safeguarding, and ethical standards. Continuous professional development and a commitment to staying informed about best practices in addiction treatment are also expected.
