This is a really nice Care Home Manager role, with an independent, 35-bed elderly/residential care home, which is well-known for delivering the highest standards of care. It's a 'well-balanced role', in the sense that there are some challenges for you to get your teeth into but no particular problems needing 'fixed'. The owner is very supportive but at the same time is very happy to give his manager the freedom to operate with a high degree of autonomy if desired.
The home is well-established, situated in landscaped grounds and located in a quiet neighbourhood, close to local amenities and the sea. There's plenty of room to improve and 'fine-tune' things, but there are no problems needing fixed; in other words, it's not a 'difficult' job but there are enough challenges and opportunities for you to achieve a very high level of job satisfaction. For example, the CQC rating is Good and the standard of care is high but there's definitely some scope for improving both the occupancy levels and the ratio of private to local authority-funded residents. The owner needs little encouragement to invest in the home and will support any initiatives you may wish to implement. In a nutshell, this is an opportunity to really make a mark and put your own stamp on an already successful care service.
Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years' management experience in a residential care environment.
The basic salary is likely to be in the region of £35-40K, plus bonus, dependent on experience.
