Our client is looking for a reliable and motivated person to join their professional team as a Senior Support Worker (Communicator Guide) in Liverpool in a community setting.

About the role
They have two posts available:
• 26 hours per week, part time. This post will work various days, evenings and weekends. A full UK driving license and use of your own vehicle is desirable, but not essential for this role.
• 15 hours per week, part time. Where you will be asked to work 5 hours per day on Monday, Thursdays and Saturdays. A full UK driving license and use of your own vehicle is essential for this role.
Communicator Guides offer support to people who have developed sight and hearing impairments, often as they get older; you will support the individual to do the things they want to do - not to do things for them. You’ll be there to act as the eyes and ears of the individual - to make sure that communication is clear and that they are able to move around safely. The support you provide may be in someone’s home, their local community or work setting.
You will offer guiding skills, practical help and communication support, such as helping with shopping, dealing with mail, accessing social and leisure activities - enabling people with sensory loss to continue to live as independently as possible and decrease isolation.
You must be able to work flexible hours to suit the service requirements and have the ability to work on your own initiative.
*For genuine occupational requirement they are looking to appoint female candidates only (exemption under the Equality Act 2010 Part 1 Schedule 9).
Our client would like to hear from you if you have experience of working with vulnerable people, and ideally have experience of working with people with a sensory impairment.
A willingness to develop your skills in all communication methods is an essential part of this role. You will need to be able to creatively solve problems that may arise using a person-centred approach and ideally have experience of using person-centred planning tools. The ideal candidate will hold, or be willing to work towards, a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
You must be enthusiastic, adaptable and friendly with a commitment to ensuring the individual you work with get the best out of their lives.
