Our Client is an innovative award-winning independent provider of support services for people with learning disabilities and additional health and social care needs.
My clients role is to provide person-centered support – support that starts each person we support on the road to greater independence, empowering them to reach their full potential.
My client is recruiting support workers for its small service for individuals diagnosed with PWS and Complex Behaviours.
It is a residential service, however is unique in that it has individual flats.
Individuals will all require strict diet plans to ensure their weight loss and this will be managed by the staff team.
Staff may be lone working on a 1:1 basis as well as working closely within a team to ensure consistency of behaviour management.
Following detailed support plans will be crucial to maintaining healthy weights and to ensure individuals’ lives are enhanced.
The chosen staff team will receive training to deal with possible absconding, deflection of weapons or manipulative behaviours. Verbal and physical aggression as well as sexualised behaviours may also be presented.
Some individuals may be moving from secure provisions so will need support around living in their own environment and accessing the community.
Shift times will be 7- 2.45pm 2.15-10pm and 9.45 -7.15am
Night staff will be asked to cover occasional day shifts to ensure that they are a part of the team and to ensure continuity of care.
Day staff will also be asked to cove occasional night shifts to ensure that rotas are covered.
We will be delivering 24 hour care which will entail covering shifts on Sundays, Bank holidays, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
You will receive approx. 5 weeks paid annual leave which will be in line with contracted hours.
Drivers will be encouraged to use company vehicle at times but this is not a necessity.

The skills you’ll need
You won’t necessarily need to have experience working with those with learning disabilities (although this would be ideal), but you will have to have the right values. You will need to be flexible, patient, caring, confident, organised, good with people and eager to learn and develop. (That's because we’ll want you to work to gain your NVQs in Health & Social Care – or build on the ones you already have.)
