EDT Social Worker/AMHP
Northallerton, North Yorkshire, England
John Edwin is a recruitment and staffing company providing a specialist service to public and private sector organisations in the health and social care sectors nationwide.
The Emergency Duty Team (EDT) is a vital service which provides out of hours cover for North Yorkshire County Council and the City of York and is based in County Hall, Northallerton, although the service operates on a countywide basis. The principle responsibility of EDT is to respond to out of hours requests where intervention from the Local Authority is required to safeguard a vulnerable child or adult until the next working day. The nature of the work is fast paced and the need for rapid response times is critical.
As a qualified and registered Social Worker you will have a broad and detailed knowledge of statutory functions of Social Care and Health Services. You will be dealing with complex cases that require thorough and robust risk decision making. You will have proven experience in Social Work in one or more areas of practice, including children, adults and families. We would particularly welcome candidates that are AMHP qualified.
As a leading care service provider, we consistently appear amongst the top performing County Councils in the country. We are privileged to have been one of the finalists for the Social Worker of the Year Awards 2016 for Best Social Worker Employer, and are previous national award winners for social care initiatives in 2015 as well as Best Social Worker Employer in the Social Care of the Year Awards 2014. As a professional team, we strive for excellence and in a recent mystery shopping exercise EDT obtained an excellent certification.
We start work at 4.30pm Monday to Friday through until 8:30am the next working day. At weekends and Bank Holidays we cover the 24 hour day with a rota that requires various shift patterns.
We offer you the opportunity to:
* operate autonomously using a range of working methods
* work with Multi-agency partners
* work for a leading care employer
Northallerton benefits from easy connectivity to the surrounding areas of York, Leeds and Teesside via a series of rail and road links, such as the A1 and A19, as well as being easily accessible to other towns and villages within North Yorkshire. You will be based in the offices at County Hall, but you will be required to travel throughout North Yorkshire and York.
Hours available are variable and up to full time. The nature of the work is that out of hours shifts may produce varying working hours and we can support flexible arrangements around this.
