Regional Operations Manager

The post holder will ensure the delivery of business performance and quality targets for portfolio of care homes with optimum operational efficiency. Provide support and leadership to the Care Home Management; engender a culture of customer focus and quality of service. Ensure that all of our Care Centres provide the highest possible standards of Care Service Delivery, to meet and exceed the expectations of Service Users and their Families. Establish and maintain relationship management with key external stakeholders. To support Group Chairman, Finance Director and Managing Director of Operations.
Participate in the development of the company business plan, setting budgetary targets for the region and individual care centres.
In partnership with the Home Manager develop home business plans and drive the financial performance of each care centre.
Monitor the performance of each care centre against performance indicators.
Provide a Monthly variance report following publication of Monthly P&L reports
Participate in business reviews with the Directors.
Identify and communicate to the senior team business development opportunities.
Work with the staff teams in the homes to delivery optimum operational efficiency and cost control.
Work with the Home Manager to plan recovery of any variance in financial and quality indicators.
Monitor staffing in accordance with occupancy and dependency and promote zero tolerance to agency use.
Provide reports to Managing Director of Operations on business performance and operational performance including the quality aspects of the service.
Communicate to the Directors any potential risks to the business and proactively manage any situations that have a potential to pose a risk.
Adhere to and promote company policies and procedures.
Chair disciplinary, appeal and grievance hearings as required and implement in line with company policy and following advice from the HR Manager
Recruit Home Managers with relevant experience and ensure compliance with recruitment and selection procedures.
Agree any development and training plans for Home Managers.
Provide support, supervision and mentorship to the Home Managers.
Monitor compliance within each Care Centre in relation to training and supervision of staff.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance
Maintain positive relationships with regulatory bodies.
Effectively manage and monitor compliance with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
With the Home Manager develop response to regulatory agencies and ensure effective implementation of actions required to achieve and maintain compliance.
Monitor KPI’s and with the Home Manager provide SMART action plan where required
Work within legislative and local policy and procedures.
Conduct investigations into complex care related complaints, formulate a detailed response, identify any areas for improvement and work with the Home Manager to ensure any recommendations are implemented.
With the Home Manager (where appropriate) work collaboratively with the local Safeguarding Team to conduct thorough investigations into any SOVA issues whilst adhering to local policy. Attend strategy meetings and ensure feedback regarding any identified risks are communicated to the Directors
Ensure any practice improvement initiatives identified following any visits from regulatory agencies, outcomes of SOVA’s/complaints are communicated to the Managing Director of Operations to enable improvement strategies to be implemented throughout the company where applicable.
Continuously improve quality services by the development, evaluation and auditing of all aspects of the service provided within each Care Centre.
Conduct a provider visit to each care centre monthly, feedback to the home manager verbally and by a written report.
Monitor care KPI’s including accidents, incidents, pressure ulcer development, weight loss, medication errors, hospital admissions and infections identify any trends or areas for concern and work with the manager to ensure effective management is taken to address these areas. Ensure reporting to appropriate regulatory body is completed. Where serious incident then carryout root cause analysis.
Monitor notifications to be sent to CQC by the Home Managers
Participate in an ‘on call service’ to the Care Centres.
