Fostering Social Worker - Direct work with children

    Durham, Durham, England

Fostering Social Worker - Direct work with children

Generous salary - up to £34,000 DOE

My client has a unique opportunity for a social worker with LAC experience or a good understanding of fostering to join their small cohesive team. The role is different from a supervising social worker as you will be working closely with the young people. This would suit someone with experience of working in a LAC team or would like to work more closely with the children and young people.

The fostering service provides high levels of care for children with a range of trauma and attachment issues by providing high levels of training to foster carers; therefore, you must have experience working with therapeutic models and have a strong understanding of attachment to be considered for this post.

The IFA offers high levels of training and support to their foster carers that results in stable placements. Foster carers are trained thoroughly, so each child in place is integrated into the family. In your role as a supervising social worker, you will be able to dedicate more time to the carers so you are able to deliver a higher level of service.

The Role - Supervising Social Worker

Your role will include Form F assessments, and supervising your own caseload. You will also be training Foster Carers and Connected Persons, which gives you variety within the role so each day will be different. You will train foster carers how to use therapeutically led care as the children who come in place will have a range of complex emotional needs and traumatic backgrounds. You will work alongside professionals from a range of backgrounds, including social work and psychology to develop a strong understanding and working relationship with the carers.

The IFA provides a high level of care to ensure stability for placements and to ensure that foster families have a sound understanding of their therapeutic approach.

Further training will be available, however you must have a solid foundation of therapeutic knowledge to build upon.

    Requirements:

    • HCPC Registration
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills
    • Sound understanding of fostering assessments and relevant legislation
    • At least two years of post-qualifying experience within an IFA
    • Experience in working with therapeutic models

If you would like to apply for this role or find out more, please email your CV to Kevin Kendaru at Apply, or call Apply.
