    Introduction - Assistant Headteacher (Specialist Educational Needs)

    Compass Associates are proud to be working on a retained basis with one of the UK's leading Specialist Education providers with a remit to recruit an Assistant Headteacher in the South London area.

     

    Overview - Assistant Headteacher (Specialist Educational Needs)

    This post holder will report directly to the Headteacher and assist in the responsibility for a large Specialist Educational School. This site provides Specialist Education to children aged between 8 -16 years old with Severe Learning Difficulties and Autism. As the Assistant Headteacher you will have joint responsibility for overseeing the strategic development of the education programs provided across this Specialist School Provision. Working in collaboration with the Senior Management Team you will be monitoring, assessing and implementing new procedures to raise standards and increase the overall performance of the pupils. You will develop and mentor the staffing team and recognise training requirements to maintain high performance ratings. This Specialist Educational School has a deserved reputation for ensuring positive outcomes for complex learners, who have often used their challenging behaviour as a basis for communication prior to placement. Through detailed multi-disciplinary assessment, and using evidence based teaching approaches, our client strives to get young people re-engaged with learning.

       

    Requirements - Assistant Headteacher (Specialist Educational Needs)

    Formal Teaching Qualification (either QTS or QTLS or equivalent) - Knowledge and experience within; Teaching and Learning for pupils with Specific Learning Disability and / or Autistic Spectrum Disorder

     

    Interview Process - Assistant Headteacher (Specialist Educational Needs)

    This will run over a two stage process which will initially begin with an informal meeting and tour of the site. Moving forward, a second and formal stage will be set up with a presentation likely to be required.

     

    Summary - Assistant Headteacher (Specialist Educational Needs)

    Successful applicants will hold an accredited formal Teaching Qualification (either QTS or QTLS or equivalent). Knowledge of all/some of the following is desirable: Teaching and Learning for pupils with SLD and / or ASD, National Curriculum/Accreditation, SEN pedagogy & Safeguarding. In return, my client are looking at offering a salary between £50,000 - £60,000 p/a (Dependent on experience)
