Sterling Cross is delighted to be able to present an amazing opportunity to work closely with a family to keep a bright and upbeat 11year old in the family home.
We are currently recruiting for Specialist Support Workers who are passionate, hardworking, dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to provide personalised support for a fun loving, cheeky, happy and brave young boy with complex health needs.
Despite these challenges, Elijah continues to astound the people around him on a daily basis and like many 11 year olds he thrives on having fun, being involved in creative activities, going out and about, using his ipad to watch films and cartoons.
Some of the duties will include:
* Medication Administration
* Attending various therapies under guidance and instruction eg: Postural Care, Passive Movements, Massage.
* Supporting with personal care and identity e.g: enabling Elijah to look like a cool 11 year old, ensuring his days are full of fun, opportunities and learning
* Enabling Elijah to live at home with his mum
Person Specification: The ideal candidate needs to be: Easy going, upbeat and enthusiastic and love being with children. Have lots of energy and willingness to learn. A desire to develop skills, knowledge and ability to care for this young boy. Be calm and collected. Be able to respond to situations without panicking. Be patient and conscientious with attention to detail and high standards. Be able to acknowledge that his mother knows her boy and understands his care needs the best.
Being respectful of mum's views and opinions is paramount. You will report directly to Elijah's mother who is also manager of his package of support. This is a unique opportunity to work in a family-led support package.
In addition, you must be able to work as part of a dynamic and lively team
NVQ 2 qualification is desirable, but consideration will also be given to applicants without previous experience of care. Full specialist care training is provided.

Ideally you will be available for a full-time position although a part-time position may also be considered for the right individual.
