Support Worker - Margate/Westgate

Our client is a charity that provides care and support for deaf or hard of hearing service users who have an additional learning disability or mental health need. Due to recent expansion, they are seeking a number of support workers to work in the residential and supported living services in the Margate and Westgate area of Kent
As a support worker, no two days are ever the same. You will support people who use the services in leading active and independent lives so your work will depend on what they have planned .It could be a day to day living skills such as shopping , housework and cooking, or it could be social activities such as swimming or cinema, or supporting your service user to attend college or a part time voluntary job. It may also include supporting your service user with personal care if this is required.
Some of the service users live in their own individual flats, some live in shared accommodation with up to 6 service users in one property. In general you will work 1-1 with the service users you are allocated to . The day divides into early shifts, late shifts and sleep ins, worked on a rota basis across 7 days of the week, so you need to be fully flexible on when you can work Hours are full time - 37.5 per week . Sleep ins are additional to this.
The successful candidate will need to have experience of supporting people with learning disabilities, mental health issues or deafness. This can either be through employment, voluntary work or from caring for someone in your social network family. You will either need to have or be willing to work towards QCF 2 or a similar qualification. Knowledge of British Sign Language is a great advantage, however not essential as full training can be given.
Salary: up £14,973 per annum for regular hours
Contract and hours: Permanent, Full time (37.5 hours per week)
Sleep in as paid in addition at a flat rate per night
