Supply Care Solutions are looking for a Youth Worker in East London.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB


  • To contribute to the development and delivery of programmes and activities to enhance young people's social education
  • Assisting the consultation process, establishing methods of enhancing contact with young people and maximising services
  • To work as a member of the youth service team, with an ability to be deployed throughout the borough
  • To be able to deliver holiday provisions and work anti-social hours including weekends
  • Support team to deliver and meet targets set through the service

  • DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


  • To assist and support in providing, through a variety of youth work approaches in both formal and informal settings, a range activities that are relevant to local young people who are at risk of crime or are offenders.
  • To support young people's personal and social development through effective programmes
  • To work evening or weekend sessions according to service needs as instructed by management
  • To be available to work across the borough as directed by the management
  • To assist and contribute in preparing timetables and work plans as appropriate.
  • To assist the team in inputting data through EYS or any other form of MIS introduced by service
  • To support in delivery and implementation of local youth forums
  • Support the delivery of day to day centre based sessions and outreach work utilised to enhance participation of young people as instructed by management
  • Follow local and national legislation, guidelines and procedures to ensure a commitment to, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
  • Assist in the referral of young people to other relevant agencies, ensuring that the young people receive specialist support
  • Plan, research and deliver workshops, ensuring young people receive information about issue based topics affecting young people
  • To contribute on ensuring practices and provision are carried out with regards to policies/procedures and regulations.
  • To attend and contribute to team meetings, facilitating information exchange, consultation and partnership working with other statutory and non-statutory agencies.
  • To participate in supervision, training and personal development to ensure up-to-date knowledge and skills.
  • To support and work with volunteers, peer educators and mediators
  • To take part in professional development, ensuring that skills, knowledge and training are up to date in line with council/department policies
  • To actively promote and comply with the Council's Equal Opportunities Policy in the opposition and eradication of all forms of discrimination and to ensure all services are accessible to all users.
  • Follow local and national legislation, guidelines and procedures to ensure a commitment to, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.

  • Youth Worker Requirements

    • Minimum NVQ Level 2 or equivalent
    • Experience of working with young people
    • Experience of providing group youth sessions
    • Experience of delivering a service in a diverse community.
    • Eligibility to work in the UK without work permit or visa restrictions
    • Commitment to the safe care and well-being of vulnerable people
