Social Care Manager
Our Client is a well established service provider to children in care.
They are currently looking to recruit a Social Care Manager.
The Core Objective of the role are...
To directly manage a Residential and Assessment Centre for children/young people and/or vulnerable adults with challenging behaviour in accordance with National Policy Guidelines and Protocols.
The Principal Duties and Responsibilities are...
? You are the Person In Charge (PIC) for the assigned house, with overall responsibility for your house.
? Create and maintain a safe, caring and stable environment for the young people/service users in our care.
? Work closely with your team and with internal/external multi-disciplinary teams to ensure that therapeutic care programmes for each young person/service user are agreed, implemented through daily social care practices and monitored on an ongoing basis.
? Demonstrate and role model positive Social Care practice and the delivery of therapeutic care, interacting with young people/service users in your house on a regular basis.
? Ensure that BSPs, support plans, risk assessments, MAPA matrices and all other standard documentation is in place and regularly reviewed for each young person/service user.
? Review and provide final sign off for all regular reports for each young person/service user.
? Comply with agreed admissions and discharge policies as per service agreements and regulations, including the development and delivery of transition plans and support plans.
? Plan for the future of the young people/service users in consultation with them, their family, your team, the multi-disciplinary team and appropriate services/agencies.
? Promote the rights and responsibilities of each young person/service user.
? Act as the designated liaison for all Child Protection matters, delegating this responsibility to a specific person whenever you are absent.
? Lead all relevant meetings including care planning meetings, PCP meetings, care review meetings, team meetings, MDT meetings, house meetings and follow up on all actions.
? Ensure the house is prepared for Inspections at all times, leading any inspections which take place and following up on required actions.
? Maintain internal audit systems, ensuring that regular standard checks, rights review committee and all other documentation are completed and fed back to MDTs.
? Ensure that reporting obligations are fulfilled and reports are delivered to all external and internal stakeholders, including the provision of standard and ad-hoc reports, statistics and information as required.
? Manage your team to ensure each individual performs to the best of their abilities. This includes supervision, training, mentoring, identifying opportunities for progression, delivering performance reviews and supporting the team as necessary.
? Ensure that supervision takes place for all team members in line with policy timeframes.
? Deliver rostered duties as part of the Managers on-call team.
? Participate in on-going planning for your house, the use of resources and the monitoring and evaluation of the service, particularly in regard to policy objectives.
The successful candidate will need......
-5 years' demonstrable post-qualification experience of working in a relevant environment (e.g. child care, other residential care), with at least 2 years at supervisory level
-Degree in Social Care, Social Work, Child Care, Psychology, Nursing or other relevant social care qualification (min. Level 7)
-Knowledge of: Children First Guidelines 1999 and Duty to Care; Child Care Act 1991; Disability Act 2005; National Standards and Guidelines in Child Care and related Policies and Procedures; Theory and Practice regarding Child Care Standards; Health and Safety Legislation; Data Protection & Freedom of Information Acts
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the innate ability to relate to young people / vulnerable adults and their families
-Ability to lead and motivate a team, actively managing individual performance
-Experience in delivering supervision for team members
-Strong organisational and admin skills
-Experience in operational and service planning, and in providing input into the development and implementation of relevant policies and procedures
-Experience of and aptitude in managing budgets
-Competent in working with multi-disciplinary and interagency teams
-Full clean driving licence
-Strong IT skills relating to standard Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
