Senior Support Worker

My client is a privately owned company that provide support and care for a range of services users including adults and young people with learning disabilities, mental health issues, or acquired brain injury. At present they are expanding very quickly and as a result seeking a number of staff to join their team, including 3 senior support workers to work in their supported living services in the Gloucester area.

As a senior support worker, you will be responsible for supporting your service users in all aspects of day to day living, which will include -
  • supporting them with life skills, such as cooking , housework and shopping
  • support with personal care where required, ensuring this is done with dignity and respect
  • support for social activities, attending college if required, and potentially holidays


You will also be assisting the deputy manager and service manager in the day to day running of the services, which will include -
  • Being a role model of support workers
  • Leading shifts, directing staff as required
  • Overseeing daily recording of information and keeping care and support plans up to date
  • Assisting with staff rotas where required, including organising and finding cover for overtime shifts and covering absence when required
  • Assisting with shadow shifts for new support workers if required


You will need to have at least 2 years' experience working in a care environment, preferably with similar service users groups.. You will have a minimum of NVQ 2 or similar level qualification in care , and either and have, or be committed to completing Level 3.

A full, clean driving license, and your own transport, is essentiaal as many of the services can be hard to access by public transport at the times shifts start or end, and also as you may in occasions be required to travel between services during your shift. In the majority of services shifts divide into early, late and sleep in, however, a few of the services have waking nights. Staff are required to be fully flexible to work any shift on a rota basis over 7 days per week.

The most important qualities you bring to the role is passion and a genuine desire to make a difference. You need a positive, Can do attitude and be prepared to work hard. All service users will have an individual care and support plan, so you will need to have good communication skills to be able to keep all written records accurate and fully updated, and also to liaise with colleagues and managers.

An enhanced DBS check is required for all positions (fee paid by applicant and reimbursed after six months of employment).

Salary is up to £8.60 per hour depending on experience and qualifications
Sleep ins where required are paid at a flat rate per night

We are looking for full time staff for these roles - 35 Hours per week

Please note we have a senior support worker role available with the same client in the Bristol and Swindon areas.

We also have support worker roles with the same client in Swindon and Bristol areas. Hourly rate up to £8.00 per hour for support worker roles.
