Senior Support Worker

Our client is a charity that provides care and support for deaf or hard of hearing service users who have an additional learning disability or mental health need. Due to recent expansion, they are seeking a number of senior support workers to work in the residential services in the Canterbury area of Kent
As a senior support worker you will assist the Service Manager and/or Deputy Manager in running the service and be part of the on-call rota for the service. Undertake formal supervision of Support Workers and other management meetings in accordance with Policies and Procedures. You will also assist with appraisals and deliver local training as required for support workers, relief workers or volunteers. To actively participate in own supervision, appraisals and training programmes necessary for professional development and specific to the needs of people using our services.
No two days are ever the same. You will support people who use the services in leading active and independent lives so your work will depend on what they have planned .It could be a day to day living skills such as shopping , housework and cooking, or it could be social activities such as swimming or cinema, or supporting your service user to attend college or a part time voluntary job. It may also include supporting your service user with personal care if this is required.
The successful candidate will need to have experience of leading shifts in a care setting, and have knowledge of care plans and rotas. You will have experience of supporting people with learning disabilities, mental health issues or deafness. You will either need to have or be willing to work towards QCF 3 or a similar qualification. Knowledge of British Sign Language is a great advantage, however not essential as full training can be given.
Salary: up to £17,651 per annum
Contract and hours:: Permanent, Full time (37.5 hours per week)
