Supply Care Solutions are looking for a Assistant Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) Grade 9 in Lancashire

Required Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a social care / child protection setting
  • Experience of multi-agency working at both strategic and operational levels
  • Experience of using ICT systems for the purposes of recording, monitoring, evaluating and reporting data
  • Experience of risk assessment and risk management in child protection cases
  • Experience of offering advice to other professionals in complex child protection cases
  • Experience of service development
  • Experience of developing and implementing quality assurance tools
  • Experience of developing and delivering multi-agency training materials on safeguarding / child protection

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Detailed knowledge of child protection and safeguarding legislation, guidance and procedures (e.g. Working Together To Safeguard Children 2015)
  • Knowledge about the roles and responsibilities of key partners (i.e. schools, Police, Children's Social Care Services) in the context of managing allegations against adults who work with children
  • Basic knowledge around HR / employment issues in this context
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal
  • An ability and willingness to liaise with and, where necessary, to challenge Senior Managers from partner agencies, constructively, objectively and in accordance with relevant policies and procedures
  • Ability to provide clear advice, information and guidance, and to record this appropriately
  • To have knowledge of the cultures and religions of the communities of Lancashire.
  • To have the ability to value diversity and work across cultures.
  • Ability to produce and review policy and procedural documents
  • Knowledge around care and control and the use of reasonable force

Qualified Social Worker Requirements

  • CSW/CQSW/DipSW/BA/MA in Social Work
  • 3 years post qualifying experience in child protection
  • Current HCPC Registration
  • Eligibility to work in the UK without work permit or visa restrictions
  • Commitment to the safe care and well-being of vulnerable people
