Community Care Nursing Jobs
Community nursing jobs offer the qualified nurse a good deal of autonomy and independence. Typically, you’ll be part of a team operating around a network of GP practices. You’re also part of a wider health and social care network, able to call upon and the services of others where a client demonstrates a need for other support services (occupational health, social workers, support workers etc). Day-to-day, of course you’ll also be working on your own, literally. Clearly, you’ll need a driving licence. You’ll travel to provide home health care to patients. The skills you’ll have will help you and others in your team determine whether a patient is thriving, recovering and benefitting from a particular care plan.
In your capacity as a trained nurse, you will be able to notice when a patient's health has turned, or when they are unable to cope in their own home (requiring the support of social services), or simply unable to undertake basic daily activities (requiring HCA or support worker visits).
So, as well as the specific nursing care you provide, you will feedback that a patient may need to be considered for residential care, or nursing home care, or simply needs a support worker to make home health visits to help with some basic day-to-day needs.
These community health jobs can include IV therapies nurse jobs, dialysis nurse jobs, oncology nurse jobs, paediatric nurse jobs. In these community-based nurses jobs you may be providing wound dressing, post-surgical care or medical care.
The providers of care (the employers of such nurse jobs) include independent healthcare companies (such as BUPA home healthcare), and of course many are NHS jobs operated through GP practices.
As a qualified nurse working in a community post you’ll engage with patients and their families in, often, more relaxed settings than hospital-based nurse jobs. The benefit of this can be a better platform upon which to build relationships and a care plan. Home care jobs and community nursing jobs are enjoyed for the autonomy they offer and the relationship-building opportunities they create.
