Band 2 - Mental Health

You will need at least 6 months proven experience in a hospital environment, and experience in the area of assignment.

Training/Qualifications/knowledge:

You will need NVQ 11 in care or be working towards NVQ 2 level 2 or knowledge of and competence in personal care acquired through experience, NVQ 2 equivalent.

Skills and abilities

You will be responsible for undertaking personal care duties for patients in a hospital or similar setting.

Your duties may include:

• Assisting patients with bathing, washing, shaving and oral hygiene
• Toilet and continence requirements
• General patient observations and other nursing related activities
• Assisting with eating and drinking
• Handling personal possessions and documents
• Maintaining the orderliness, hygiene and safety of the ward/department/patient environment
• You will assist qualified staff by carrying out routine personal care duties.
You will need:
• The ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing (to understand and be understood) in English.
• Basic numeracy
• Good observational skills, able to take and record blood pressure, temperature and respiration
• Able to update patients records, record observations, fluid balance, update care plans
