Of course, the common misconception is that care home jobs are all about elderly care jobs. While elderly care jobs and dementia care jobs (EMI jobs) do make up a large part of the care homes jobs sector, it’s not the whole story.
As you can see from the list of services above, care home jobs offer a wide choice of specialisation to those care workers and nursing staff who wish to work in care homes or community care settings.
But, for the purpose of this brief article, we’ll lightly detail some of the most common care homes jobs:
Jobs in care homes - Nursing home jobs
Registered and qualified nursing staff must always be available if a care home classes itself as a nursing home. Care assistant jobs are also filled by experienced care workers able to carry out nursing care. Nursing home jobs look for staff able to see to patients medical and health needs.
Nursing homes are regulated / registered to provide medical care across a range of health needs: from palliative care to EMI (elderly mentally infirm) care home requirements, cancer care, specialist children’s services etc.
Jobs in care homes - Residential care jobs
Residential care is a solution for clients who, due to age or disabilities, are no longer able to cope in their own homes, but may not require the specific medical, clinical or health care available in a nursing home. Occasionally, home care clients may need short spells away from their own home in order to give their usual carer a holiday. A residential care home can offer this kind of respite care.
Residential care jobs (in fact, all residential home jobs whether they are care jobs, support workers jobs or nurse jobs) require staff that can provide support and care for short and long-term clients.
Residential care workers are used to working as part of a team. Key workers, care assistants, carers, support workers - they all combine to ensure help and support is given to a wide range of needs (from counseling and mental health / behavioural management to assistance with washing, dressing and bed changing). Residential home jobs on SocialCare.co.uk will be for support workers, care workers and care assistants - either qualified or unqualified, experienced or without experience.
Jobs in care homes - Home manager jobs
If you browse the specific home manager jobs section elsewhere on SocialCare.co.uk you’ll see it’s full of jobs. Jobs for care home managers, deputy home manager jobs, unit manager jobs, RMA qualified care managers, deputy managers for care home groups.... It’s one of the single biggest job sectors and in huge demand of skilled job seekers. We write about it separately on that page (about the various requirements of different home manager jobs - RMNs, RGNs, RNLDs, RMA qualifications), but a page about care home jobs wouldn’t be complete without a mention of care home manager jobs!
Jobs in care homes - Care homes nurse jobs
Care home nurse jobs include RGN jobs and specialist qualified nurse jobs such as RMN jobs and RNLD jobs.
We have another two sites, Nurses.co.uk, which also lists care home jobs and Carehomejobs.com which is only and specifically for care homes jobs, as you’d expect. The care home jobs on Nurses.co.uk lists nursing home jobs, as you'd imagine, but also care home manager jobs, RMA jobs and deputy home manager jobs. Worth visiting.
